Medium Format Film

Medium format film is the inbetween of using 35mm film and using any type of large format film. Medium format film produces this amazing high quality finish that is what you want from a larger formatted film type but with more convenience than carrying around a large format camera.

The most used type of medium format film is 120mm, this type of film produces negatives that are 60mm wide and vairy in length depending on what camera is used. Medium format film cameras come in lots of different styles each giving a different outcome and shooting experience.

The larger negative size of medium format compared to 35mm allows for more detail, range and sharpness. Medium format film can be used for anything digital can landscapes, fashion or commercial. It may seem limiting using analog but medium format doesn’t mean no adjustment to the camera the way that you can interchange lenes on digital as it is the same for analog. You can still have creative control when choosing to shoot film. Although there will never be anything to beat the convenience of using digital and of course the cost of purchasing film and paying for development whether its by hand or sent off to a photolab. However with the cost of the film it comes with the unique look and feel of it. Also it is important to remember just because you enjoy using analog film doesn’t mean you have to put your digital camera down any time soon!
